Christel is a Norway miniature artist who generally creates miniature food using her own facilities; she has explored creating flowers, vintage furniture and other items. She creates food by using polymer clay and she generally creates baking items, working from 1 in 12 different scale sizes.

I have chosen Christel as one of my artists as I found her work to be interesting, as we first look at her work I, the image appears to be of a normal scale however as we being to explore the image further we begin to realise that, the objects in the photographs are miniature. There is no physical human evidence of any humans in the picture, and so this makes it difficult for us to work out again if these objects are miniature, as if to create an illusion. I also believe that it is difficult to accept that they are miniature due to the amazing detail in the polymer objects; the detail is so intense they appear remarkably realistic.

particularly like this image as it very, thought out; the object in the picture is set and placed in a particular place for a reason. The size of the objects are the most interesting part of this image, the idea of creating realistic scene by using miniature objects , I discovered to be amazing. The photographer photographs his images from a very intimate angle and all of his shoots are close up. The photographer uses a shallow depth of field in order to place the focus on the small objects which contribute more meaning towards the image rather than producing the whole image in focus. Our eyes are drawn toward the part of the image which is in focus which is the miniature models.

The photographer mainly uses natural light and everyday surrounding which is what adds realism towards the miniature models. The idea that the of the tea party table being place on the ground convinces the audience that the miniature object are indeed life size.

Artist Response
For my artist copy I wanted to take photographs of miniature objects, in the style of Christel Jenson. Even though she is not a photographer, liked the idea of using miniature people in my work. I wanted to achieve a supernatural tea party and so I placed the tables’ around natural environments i.e. the grass and bushes. I then placed them on tables and places daisies next to their also created a scene where I placed the table top of white dish.

In my work I want to vary the size of my objects, and so by photographing miniature object this help achieve a fairy tale tea party. When taking my photographs I used natural lighting as I wanted to create a raw Alice in Wonderland inspired scene. However I also experimented with photographing my images indoors thought the images which I photographed indoors was much more successful than using the lighting indoors.
