 Christen Breakly photographs, objects which she adores, she mainly photographs in a still life fashion and takes shots of food and objects capturing scenarios which are beyond a ordinary state. She has described her work as being ‘pretty’ and is amused by the effect that lighting has on various scenes and shoots hence to why here images are so success, lighting is a key factor when taking photographs. She studied at the Academy of Art University and started taking photograph since 1990.

I have chosen this photographer as a result of her amazing use of lighting, her images are truly stunning as they capture every detail,my varying the depth of feild, as an audience our eyes are fixed on the area which is in foucus.However we still acknowledeg the other objects in the background. Her photogrpahs are pure and make aamzing use a shallow depth of field. I also like the idea that her photographs vary, and she is not limited to what she can photograph. The compostiion in her word is interesting, she specifically arrnages in a certian way in order to achive ..She captures different everyday objects and she creates art.


Artist Analysis

I picked out this image specifially beacuse it was a good example of the simplicity of her in Annabelle's work but also how strinking the images was.The background and the sorrounding in her work always relate to the main fouseof the object.In this case the main focuse was is the two cups of what appears to be coffee and the table is also brown aswell which links in perfectly with my theory. She has placed other object on the table however they are not in focuse , yet our eyes still acknowledge them. The images apears warm and demostrates a comfortable mood. It appears there are two cups possible indicating that the two people having this beverage have a very possitibe and comfortable relationships.On the left side of the image is a plate and undeneath the plate a newspaper is placed,this again supports the idea that the this is a comfortble enviroment. Through her planned and thought out comportions ,it appears that Annabelle demostrates a relationship in her photographs without using people in them.

 

Response Plan

For my response Annabelle Breakly, I will vist a coffee shop and place my objects near the window in order to achieve that stunning natural light which she uses in her work. I will also experiment with different compositional ideas

Response:

 For my photographer Annabelle Breakly. I chose to take photographs at home. I set out a scene containing two tea cups of herbal tea in with the connections to my chosen title ‘Tea for Two’. I arranged tea leaves and plants on the table in the style of Annabelle. In her work I noticed that the dominant feature in her work was the use of light. She used the light well weather this being natural light or artificial light. For my shoot I chose to use natural light. However the lighting I was using was not extremely bright.
  
For my response I wanted to use natural lighting and so I then placed my objects on the table.I photographed them from various positions and angles to achieve a good composition. although I used natural light my images still appeared to be rather dull and not as bright as Annabelle so I then went on to photoshop in order to to try and achieve a brighter light.
